From week theme : Kyoto’s Matcha Magic
🍵🍧🎎 (Kyoto’s Matcha Magic) Matcha Mochi Ice Cream – A delightful encounter of East meets West in this frozen treat. Dipped in the vibrancy of matcha, this dessert embodies the essence of Kyoto’s sweet innovation.
A creamy matcha ice cream enrobed in a soft, chewy mochi shell, harmoniously served on a plate that speaks volumes of Japanese minimalism.
🥣 Ingredients:
– 100g sweet rice flour (Mochiko)
– 200g sugar
– 200ml water
– Cornstarch for dusting
– 400ml matcha ice cream
🧑🍳 Preparation:
1. Mix rice flour and sugar in a bowl.
2. Gradually add water until the mixture is smooth.
3. Cover the bowl with cling film and microwave for 2 mins. Stir and repeat until the mixture is sticky.
4. Dust a surface with cornstarch, place the mochi dough, and flatten it. Let it cool.
5. Cut circles in the mochi; dust with more cornstarch.
6. Place a scoop of matcha ice cream on each mochi circle and seal it.
7. Serve on a minimalist Japanese plate for a true Kyoto feel.
😅 Bonus: Did you know mochi dates back to the Heian period in Japan? Imagine ancient Kyotoites nibbling on this treat – minus the ice cream, of course!
