🍢🎌🍤 (Osaka’s Takoyaki and Beyond) Kushikatsu Delight
Savor the crisp, deep-fried skewers of meat and vegetables, a staple of Osaka’s street food scene. Perfect for an indulgent kickstart to the week.
🥣 Ingredients:
– 200g pork tenderloin, cut into bite-sized pieces
– 1 medium carrot, sliced into rounds
– 1 bell pepper, cut into chunks
– 1 onion, quartered
– 100g shiitake mushrooms
– Panko breadcrumbs
– 2 eggs, beaten
– Flour for coating
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Skewers
– Vegetable oil for frying
– Tonkatsu sauce for dipping
🧑🍳 Preparation:
1. Season pork with salt and pepper.
2. Thread pork and vegetables onto skewers, alternating pieces.
3. Coat each skewer lightly in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat with panko.
4. Heat oil in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 175°C.
5. Fry skewers until golden (about 3 minutes), drain on paper towels.
6. Serve on a wooden board with tonkatsu sauce, under soft, warm lighting to mimic golden crust perfection.
